The Littleton Museum’s latest exhibition is Play of Light: Works by Jane Guthridge. Located in the Fine Arts Exhibition Hall, the exhibition will be on view June 28 to August 25. Inspired by the brilliance of Colorado’s sunshine, Jane Guthridge succeeds in manipulating thin, layered materials and altering the directionality of light. Playing with the very nature of light, she manages to capture the intangible by copying shapes made by natural dappled sunlight and shadows, then abstracting those compositions. Whether suspended, layered, or reflected, the “light forms” she creates evoke familiar visions of a moment in nature. “I have always been interested in looking closely at nature and find that the vast areas of wilderness in the West allow for a deeper contemplation of the ethereal qualities of the natural word,” said Guthridge.
