An arc Thrift Store drop-off location has resided in Littleton for years, but now a new, full-service store is opening on Littleton Boulevard (1400 West Littleton Boulevard). The 1966 historic building has maintained its character with wood beams and the original ceiling, which match the store’s mission of helping customers find vintage treasures. The 25,000 square-foot retail space is the 26th arc Thrift Store in Colorado.
Generous donations from the community have made this store a possibility. Customers can find anything from clothes to furniture to electronics at the Littleton location. The official ribbon cutting will take place on Thursday, September 7 at 8:30 a.m. and the first Saturday of business will be September 9. The store is open 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Sundays. This store will also have a donation center for patrons to drop off items.
The majority of the proceeds from arc Thrift Stores are used to fund the arc chapter programs that advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities. Additionally, of the 1,600 arc employees nationwide, about 300 of them have an intellectual or developmental disability. Continuing its community support, the store aims for 100% recyclability; the items that can’t be sold are sent to other countries to be repaired or sold. Additionally, all trash is compacted onsite and sent to recycle plants helping to reduce impact to landfills. For more information about arc Thrift Stores, visit www.arcthrift.com.
