There is nothing more perfect on a hot, summer night than frozen custard. Andy’s Frozen Custard (6985 South Broadway) has it covered with delicious treats and a friendly vibe. The original Andy’s started 30 years ago in Springfield, Mo., and the family-oriented business is now thriving in 10 states. The Broad Ridge Shopping Center location is only the second to open in Colorado.
Custard, by trade, is thicker and creamier than traditional ice cream. Every item on the menu is made from fresh vanilla or chocolate custard that is less than an hour old. The goodies blended in the concretes are also baked daily in-house, including key lime pie, brownies, cookies and pumpkin pie in the fall. The pecans in the Ozark Turtle (vanilla frozen custard covered with hot fudge, crème caramel, roasted pecans and topped with a cherry) are roasted just a few days prior to serving.
Walk up to the window, visit the drive thru and enjoy the outdoor seating. Each treat promises to be ready in less than 60 seconds. In the summer, stop by seven days a week from 11 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m. – midnight Friday-Saturday.
