City council keeps one urban renewal plan

Sign at Columbine SquareAt its December 6, 2016 meeting, the Littleton City Council voted to repeal three of the four previously adopted urban renewal plans and retain the city’s urban renewal authority, Littleton Invests for Tomorrow (LIFT), to administer the remaining plan. An urban renewal authority is required to administer an urban renewal plan.

The four urban renewal plans were adopted in late 2014. They were:  Santa Fe, North Broadway, Littleton Boulevard, and Columbine Square. The council voted to keep the Columbine Square Plan and repeal the others. Columbine Square is located southwest of the intersection of Belleview and Federal.

The vote followed hours of testimony by dozens of residents and property owners.
